I am not currently browsing from page to page on the web and my service disconnects?
- Fibernet internet services may allow your connection to end if you are not actively using it. Sometimes this is caused by you leaving your computer on and connected while not in use, more often it is because you may be writing a long email or reading a long web page or message during which time your computer is neither sending or receiving data. If you wish to prevent this from disconnecting your service, you can set your email program to check for messages every 5 minutes. As long as your email program is running, it should keep your service connected.
I am currently trying to browse the web and my connection keeps dropping?
- If you have call waiting on the line your connection is on make sure it is disabled, use *70, in front of the phone number you dial to connect. This will disable it for the length of the call with Qwest lines.
- Someone picking up the line elsewhere in the house, the clicking noise can sometimes cut you off." With dial up service, a phone line can only be used for one thing at a time. Make sure no one is trying to use another phone extension somewhere in the house and interrupting your dial up connection.
- Electrical noise on your phone line can cause your dial up or even DSL service to drop. If you suspect your line may be having problems, please contact your phone line provider (e.g. Qwest).
- Make sure you have updated drivers or other software for your modem or network equipment from the manufacturer's website.
- If none of these things make any difference there is a good chance we can still help you troubleshoot the issue. Please contact our support staff.
