Which Hosting Plan?

Dedicated Hosting

Dedicated hosting offers all of the benefits of owning your own server without the hassle of dealing with the hardware. You, as the customer, would rent an entire server. Fibernet's experienced Tech Support will provide the initial install and configuration. Once installation is complete, it becomes the responsibility of the customer to use it however they please.

Q: What can a customer do with dedicated hosting?

Whatever you want. Really.

Q: Will it really be up in only 10 minutes?

If you select one of our standard packages, it will be up in 10 minutes. If you want to upgrade the hardware, we'll have to make that change first, and then the install will proceed. In addition, installing Windows takes longer than 10 minutes.

Q: How much support does it include?

We monitor and make sure the hardware is working properly. Beyond that, it's the customer's responsibility to manage the device. Ask your account manager about outsourced IT options if you prefer Fibernet to handle the management. We are also available to help on an as needed or per project basis at our standard hourly rates.

Cloud Server

A Cloud Server is a way for a customer to have their own server without having to invest in a dedicated server. This gives them their own operating system to configure as they need. Each Cloud Server runs as its own Virtual Machine. We can have several Cloud Server's running on one physical server.

Q: How is a Cloud Server different from dedicated hosting?

The only functional difference is power. A Cloud Server runs the same software, same operating systems, same everything as a dedicated server, it just has much less available RAM and hard disk space.

Q: How is a Cloud Server different than a Virtual Server?

Cloud Server is useful when a customer needs more flexibility and performance than Virtual Hosting accounts provide. This allows customers to configure the Operating System (OS) with custom extensions or software that will not run or cannot be installed in the Virtual Hosting environment.

Q: What limitations do Cloud Server's have, if any?

Because of the limited RAM and hard disk space, Cloud Server cannot run DirectAdmin or CPanel on the Cloud Server 128. To use those control panels an upgrade to the Cloud Server 256 is required

Virtual Server

Virtual Server consists of shared website and basic email hosting on one physical server. Multiple users host their websites and email on the same server. These are typically smaller accounts, and that's why the server is able to host 300-400 different accounts on the same machine. It provides customers a low cost alternative to dedicated website hosting. It also includes an easy to use interface and included system monitoring by our administration staff to ensure the reliability of the server hardware and systems. For many customers this is an ideal product because of the low cost, high reliability, ease of use, and because it eliminates the complexity of some dedicated hosting platforms.

Q: Who should use a Virtual Server?

A Virtual Server can be useful to anyone who wants to host a basic to moderately complex web page or has mostly simple email needs.

Specifically, our customers who have a static HTML web page or fairly simple dynamic web page and email needs for between 5 and 50 employees will find a Virtual Server type account very usable for their needs.

Q: How do I know if a Virtual Server is the right fit for my company?

Customers who have a very basic website and only a few email users (less than 10 - 15) should be fine with a Core Virtual Server.

Customers who have a dynamic website, any kind of database integration or who have more than 20 email users should get a Premium or Reseller account.
